This market will resolve according to the winner of the 2026 Michigan gubernatorial election. A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party. The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.Jocelyn Benson holds a commanding lead in trader consensus for the 2026 Michigan gubernatorial race due to her established statewide profile as secretary of state, decisive primary victory, and alignment with Michigan's recent Democratic success in executive contests. John James, the Republican nominee and sitting U.S. representative, faces structural challenges including prior statewide losses, limited crossover appeal, and voter dissatisfaction tied to the national Republican brand in a state where Democrats have dominated recent balloting. With the November 3 general election approaching and an open seat after term limits, the implied probability reflects betting on continuity in voter patterns and turnout dynamics. Scenarios that could narrow this gap include sharp shifts in economic sentiment, high Republican mobilization in rural and suburban areas, or unforeseen late developments that alter undecided voter preferences currently hovering near 10 percent in surveys.
