Robert Sprague holds a modest edge in trader consensus for the Ohio secretary of state race, reflecting his background as state treasurer and Republican primary strength, while Allison Russo’s legislative record as former House minority leader sustains Democratic support. The contest remains tight because Ohio voters weigh election administration priorities such as security measures against voting access, amid a broader midterm environment where other statewide races show narrow margins. Sprague’s emphasis on trust in voting systems and Russo’s focus on reforming processes keep the implied probabilities close. Key upcoming factors that could widen the gap include candidate debates, new polling on the race, endorsements from party leaders, and any shifts in turnout expectations tied to the November 3 general election.
