Official National Weather Service observations recorded a minimum of 55°F in Denver on September 9, 2026, aligning closely with the market's dominant 56-57°F outcome. Pre-event model consensus from NOAA and local forecasters projected overnight lows in the mid-50s under mostly clear skies, light winds, and radiational cooling typical for early September, when the climatological normal low sits near 52°F. Recent daytime warmth from a high-pressure ridge did not persist after sunset, preventing any significant temperature carryover. This setup produced high trader confidence, as forecast guidance showed limited spread and no incoming fronts or moisture to alter the nocturnal minimum. Only unexpected cloud cover or stronger mixing could have shifted readings notably lower or higher.
