Recent polls in Tocantins show a technical tie between Flávio Bolsonaro and incumbent President Lula in first-round presidential voting intentions, with each near 37-38% and all other listed candidates trailing far behind. This local dynamic, consistent across multiple September surveys, underpins trader positioning around a narrow edge for the PL nominee amid Brazil's broader polarized contest. Factors sustaining the closeness include regional voting patterns favoring the Bolsonaro family brand in northern states, combined with Lula's national incumbency advantages and the limited impact of minor candidates on vote consolidation. Upcoming campaign events and any late shifts in undecided voters or turnout could still alter the state-level outcome before the October 4 first round.
