The Berlin state election on September 20, 2026, produced results that placed the CDU in the 30-34 seat range in the Abgeordnetenhaus, consistent with trader consensus reflected in the dominant market pricing. The party’s vote share fell sharply to 18.8 percent from 28.2 percent in 2023, amid gains for Die Linke (25.7 percent) and the AfD, as voters shifted toward parties emphasizing housing affordability and other local priorities. This outcome aligns with pre-election polling trends showing the CDU trailing or tied near 20 percent while the outgoing CDU-SPD coalition lost its majority. Final certified seat allocation remains subject to standard procedural verification and any minor adjustments from outstanding ballots, though such changes are unlikely to move the CDU outside the leading bracket given the scale of the vote totals.
