This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Italy by December 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially appointed and sworn in as Prime Minister of Italy. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Italy; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Giorgia Meloni holds the leading position in trader assessments for Italy’s next prime minister due to her record as head of the longest-serving postwar government, sustained support for her Brothers of Italy party near 26 percent in recent polling, and repeated statements committing to serve through the end of the current legislature in 2027. Coalition strains and the rise of Roberto Vannacci’s new far-right National Future movement, which has captured roughly 7 percent and drawn votes from League and Forza Italia allies, have tempered expectations of an unchallenged path. Centre-left opposition remains divided, with Elly Schlein of the Democratic Party and Giuseppe Conte of the Five Star Movement viewed as the primary alternatives should the centre-right bloc underperform. Ongoing parliamentary debates over electoral reform, including proposals for greater stability and direct prime-ministerial designation, add further uncertainty ahead of the scheduled vote no later than late 2027.
