Pete Crow-Armstrong leads the 2026 WAR leaderboard by a wide margin, posting elite marks across batting (.279/.373/.566 with 41 home runs and 36 steals through 149 games), baserunning, and center-field defense for the Cubs. His combined value has reached roughly 9 WAR per major trackers, outpacing position-player peers such as Bobby Witt Jr. and Yordan Alvarez while exceeding the totals from top pitchers including Cristopher Sánchez and Jacob Misiorowski. The 24-year-old’s sustained production through the final weeks has created a substantial cushion with limited games remaining. A late injury, dramatic surge from a two-way contributor like Shohei Ohtani, or exceptional closing stretch by a frontline starter could narrow the gap, though current consensus reflects the difficulty of overtaking this lead.
