Trump remains in office as the 47th president following his January 2025 inauguration for a second term ending in 2029. Recent House action tabling an impeachment resolution in mid-September 2026, amid partisan divisions and without sufficient support to advance, underscores limited congressional momentum for removal proceedings before the November midterms. Ongoing executive actions on immigration, trade, and foreign policy, including responses to the Iran conflict, show continued governance without signs of resignation or invocation of succession mechanisms. Traders assign a 94.5% implied probability to the “No” outcome, reflecting historical patterns where successful removal before the end of a term is rare absent extraordinary bipartisan consensus or acute incapacity. Midterm results and any subsequent legislative shifts could influence longer-term dynamics but are unlikely to trigger departure by the end of 2026.

An announcement of Donald Trump's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect.
Only permanent removal from office will qualify. Temporary removal (e.g. temporary invocation of the 25th Amendment under Section 3 or a Section 4 invocation not sustained by both Houses of Congress) or impeachment without removal will not count.
A sustained invocation of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, Section 4 (i.e., if both Houses of Congress, by two-thirds vote, uphold the Vice President and Cabinet’s determination of presidential inability) will qualify for a "Yes" resolution.
The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.
