Paige Cognetti holds a lead in trader consensus for Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district due to her strong fundraising edge, narrow polling advantages in recent surveys, and the incumbent’s vulnerabilities. Rob Bresnahan, the first-term Republican who flipped the seat in 2024, faces criticism over congressional stock trading that has kept his favorability underwater in district polling. June surveys showed Cognetti ahead by 1–2 points among likely voters, while race raters rate the contest a toss-up or lean Republican. Cognetti, Scranton’s mayor, has built cash-on-hand advantages and benefits from a growing Democratic registration edge in the northeast Pennsylvania district. A scheduled October 29 debate and the November 3 general election remain key upcoming catalysts in this closely contested midterm race.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
