LaMonica McIver holds a commanding position in the NJ-10 general election due to the district's longstanding Democratic dominance across Essex, Hudson, and Union counties, where no Republican has won since 1946. As the incumbent who captured the seat in a 2024 special election, McIver secured renomination in the June 2026 Democratic primary with roughly 85 percent of the vote against a low-profile challenger. Republican nominee Carmen Bucco, a perennial candidate running unopposed in his primary, faces the structural barriers typical of this solidly Democratic seat. McIver's ongoing federal assault case stemming from a 2025 detention center incident has not shifted primary voter support, though its resolution or related developments before the November 3 ballot could introduce volatility in an otherwise lopsided contest.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
