**Richard Vereš (ANO), the 30-year-old mayor of the Slezská Ostrava district since 2018 and a regional assembly member, leads the market at 63% implied probability as the candidate for the October 9–10, 2026, municipal elections.** Traders price him ahead of current city mayor Jan Dohnal (ODS, running under the rebranded srdcOVA coalition with KDU-ČSL, TOP 09, and independents) at 34.5%, with other listed contenders such as Aleš Boháč (Starostové pro Ostravu), Rostislav Řeha (Piráti), Peter Harvánek (SPD), and Matěj Gregor (Motoristé) at 2% or below. Vereš benefits from ANO’s established strength in the Moravskoslezský kraj, his record of unanimous re-election as district mayor, and his national profile including roles in the European Committee of the Regions and the Congress of the Council of Europe. Dohnal assumed the mayoralty in April 2023 after the ouster of former ANO mayor Tomáš Macura and has governed through a multi-party coalition; his coalition’s rebranding and candidate list reflect efforts to consolidate center-right support, yet market pricing indicates limited expectations of overtaking ANO in the citywide vote. Lower-probability candidates represent smaller parties or movements with narrower bases and no recent polling or organizational signals suggesting a viable path to the mayoralty. The market reflects the standard post-nomination consolidation around the two main party-backed contenders ahead of the vote, with resolution expected once the new city assembly elects the mayor.
