The open mayoral contest in Meander Valley, following incumbent Wayne Johnston’s April 2026 decision not to recontest after eight years, has produced a fragmented field ahead of the October 27 Tasmanian local government elections. Current councillors Ben Dudman and Stephanie Cameron register as the clearest frontrunners in trader pricing, yet the broad distribution of shares across numerous named candidates and “Other” underscores limited public polling, low-visibility local races, and the absence of recent campaign announcements or endorsements that could consolidate support. With roughly seven weeks until voting, the tight implied probabilities reflect uncertainty over voter preferences in a municipality-wide ballot where turnout patterns and late preference flows often decide outcomes in multi-candidate contests.
