Iran's next presidential election remains scheduled for 2028 under the constitutional four-year term that began after Masoud Pezeshkian's 2024 victory. Recent statements from the Interior Ministry indicate plans to align this vote with parliamentary elections through a proposed bill enabling simultaneous balloting in May 2028, following review by a working group involving the Guardian Council and other institutions. No snap election triggers, such as leadership vacancies or major constitutional crises, have emerged since the 2026 Supreme Leader transition. Trader consensus on early resolution by late 2026 or 2027 reflects the absence of immediate catalysts, though parliamentary approval of the alignment bill or unforeseen domestic developments could alter timelines.
