The open mayoral seat in Thunder Bay, with incumbent Ken Boshcoff not seeking re-election, has produced a crowded field of ten certified candidates for the October 26 municipal vote. Trevor Giertuga’s long municipal council tenure and focus on smart growth infrastructure position him as a leading contender in trader pricing, while Moe Comuzzi’s prior provincial and federal candidacy experience and Aldo Ruberto’s former at-large council role keep them close behind. Recent candidate discussions have centered on housing shortages, accessible transit, and public safety, issues that have not yet produced decisive separation. With nominations closed only weeks ago and limited polling available, the fragmented support across business, media, and community backgrounds sustains the tight implied probabilities across the top names.
