Latest National Weather Service forecasts place Chicago’s September 20 high in the upper 60s to low 70s, with 68–71 °F bins commanding the highest market-implied odds. A northeast flow off Lake Michigan and an approaching frontal boundary are advecting cooler, moister air while widespread cloud cover and showers limit daytime solar heating. Model consensus shows modest spread tied to the precise timing of precipitation onset and boundary-layer mixing; stronger or earlier rain would cap readings near 68 °F, whereas delayed clouds or partial clearing could allow brief warming into the low 70s. Updated GFS and NAM runs plus the next NWS forecast discussion will be the key near-term catalysts.
