Recent expulsions of Iranian diplomats by Argentina and Kuwait in early September 2026, following Iran's statements on Argentine legal matters and a missile strike on Kuwait International Airport, underscore ongoing reciprocal diplomatic tensions. These actions align with similar moves by France in August 2026 over interference disputes and earlier U.S. and Australian decisions tied to national security and alleged proxy activities. Trader sentiment reflects patterns of tit-for-tat responses under the Vienna Convention framework, where countries declare personnel persona non grata amid broader regional conflicts and accusations of interference. Key upcoming factors include any further Iranian diplomatic statements, missile incidents, or bilateral negotiations that could prompt additional host-country actions within resolution windows.

For the purposes of this market, “expel” refers to a formal action by a country requiring the Iranian Ambassador currently stationed there as of market creation to leave the country, including a declaration of persona non grata. Revocation of the Ambassador’s visa or denial of entry to that country will not alone suffice.
An announcement of a qualifying expulsion will suffice for a “Yes” resolution, regardless of whether the Ambassador actually leaves the country.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the relevant country’s government; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
