Conservatives hold the strongest position for second place in British Columbia’s October 24 snap election, reflecting their status as the primary opposition despite recent leadership turmoil, multiple MLA defections, and the appointment of an interim leader. Recent polls from Research Co., Angus Reid, and others show the NDP ahead at 41-45% to the Conservatives’ 36-39%, with the BC Greens at 10-12% and CentreBC or OneBC in low single digits. This leaves the NDP favored for first while the Conservatives retain broad support in Northern BC and the Fraser Valley. The short campaign and limited time for smaller parties to consolidate further anchor trader consensus around the established two-party contest.
