The UAE’s May 2026 withdrawal from OPEC and OPEC+, driven by long-standing quota disputes and its expanded production capacity, established a recent precedent but has not triggered further exits. Remaining members, including founding producers such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Venezuela, continue to weigh quota flexibility against the costs of leaving, with Baghdad and Caracas facing internal financial pressures and diplomatic considerations yet issuing no formal withdrawal announcements. Iraq has explored higher output targets while reaffirming its commitment to the group, and Venezuelan discussions remain speculative without official confirmation. Core producers retain incentives to coordinate amid ongoing geopolitical constraints on exports, supporting trader consensus that the 2026 resolution window is unlikely to see another departure.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if another OPEC member officially announces its withdrawal from OPEC between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM Gulf Standard Time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
An official announcement made by any country that is an OPEC member at the time of market creation and has not already announced its exit will suffice, regardless of when the withdrawal is set to take effect.
Informal announcements, statements from unnamed sources, or leaks will not qualify.
This market’s primary resolution source will be official information from the respective governments; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
