Official National Weather Service observations confirm a daily maximum of 98°F at Dallas/Fort Worth on September 23, 2026, aligning precisely with the market's 100% implied probability for the 98-99°F bin. Persistent late-summer warmth, driven by a strong ridge of high pressure and above-average soil moisture deficits from an extended dry spell, supported temperatures 11°F above the 1991-2020 normal of 87°F despite a modest cooldown from earlier September peaks exceeding 100°F. Model consensus had converged on this range in the days prior, with minimal forecast spread once steering flow and subsidence patterns stabilized. Only an unexpected late-day surge or measurement revision at the primary station could have shifted the outcome, though historical analogs for the date show 98°F has occurred before without reaching the prior record of 100°F.
