Forecasts from MetService and global models indicate a peak temperature of 15°C in Wellington on September 21 under a strong northerly flow, with clear to partly cloudy conditions and gusty winds supporting daytime warming to that level. Current observations near midday hover around 13–14°C, aligning with model consensus for a maximum in the mid-teens Celsius amid typical spring climatology for the region. The market's near-certain positioning on 15°C reflects this tight alignment of official guidance and real-time data. A realistic shift could occur only if an earlier southerly change or increased cloud cover suppresses the peak by 1–2°C, though such adjustments appear unlikely based on the latest model runs.
