Forecast models from the National Weather Service and others indicate an overnight low in the upper 50s to low 60s for New York City on September 21, driven by a northeast wind shift behind a frontal passage that advects cooler maritime air and increases cloud cover. This setup limits radiational cooling overnight while keeping daytime highs near 69°F, aligning with the market's concentration on 60–65°F bins that together exceed 95% implied probability. Recent observations show temperatures already trending below seasonal normals, with historical September 21 lows averaging near 60°F. Traders appear to weigh the balance between model consensus and potential for slight warming if clouds clear earlier than expected before midnight.
