Kirk Cousins secured the Raiders' Week 1 starting quarterback role after coach Klint Kubiak announced the decision following the preseason, citing the veteran's strong camp performance, system familiarity from prior work with Kubiak, and leadership in practice. Cousins completed 13 of 17 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in limited exhibition snaps, while No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza showed inconsistency with interceptions and worked primarily with the second unit. Aidan O'Connell remains the third option on the depth chart. Trader consensus heavily favors Cousins at 98.7% given this official confirmation and the team's intent to develop Mendoza gradually. An injury to Cousins before the opener against the Dolphins remains the primary scenario that could shift the outcome.

In the event two listed quarterbacks take the field on the first offensive play of the Las Vegas Raiders’ Week 1 game, this market will resolve in favor of the player directly receiving the snap. If neither listed quarterback directly receives the snap, this market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically.
If Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or no official starter has taken the field within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL and/or the Las Vegas Raiders; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
