Matlow led with 36% to Ausley's 34%, with Daryl Parks at 25% before endorsing Ausley and Michael Foust trailing far behind. Both finalists are nonpartisan Democrats drawing on local and state experience, with recent campaign finance reports showing Matlow gaining ground through stronger small-donor support and higher cash on hand. Key variables that could shift the balance include turnout among city voters, differing positions on growth issues such as data centers, and any late endorsements or advertising in the final weeks. The nonpartisan runoff format and absence of an incumbent amplify uncertainty in this head-to-head contest.
