Official observations from the National Weather Service at Houston Intercontinental Airport recorded a daily maximum of 94°F on September 18, 2026, aligning closely with the market’s overwhelming 100% consensus on the 92-93°F bin. Persistent high pressure, clear skies, and light winds under a late-summer pattern suppressed cloud cover and allowed strong solar heating, pushing temperatures several degrees above the 1991-2020 normal high of 90°F. Recent model runs and surface analyses showed minimal variability in peak readings across metro stations, reinforcing trader confidence that the outcome would settle in the low 90s. A shift in steering winds or unexpected moisture intrusion could have altered the result, yet none materialized before the daily maximum was reached.
