Incumbent Governor Bassey Otu secured the APC nomination for the 2027 Cross River gubernatorial election through primaries and widespread affirmations by party stakeholders and lawmakers, reflecting strong internal consolidation. INEC’s late-August candidate list formalized his position alongside PDP nominee Arthur Jarvis Archibong and aspirants from smaller parties such as the ADC. Recent endorsements from Cross River political networks, pledges of bloc votes tied to federal alignment, and ongoing infrastructure initiatives have reinforced trader consensus around Otu’s re-election prospects. Jarvis, the main opposition figure, has focused criticism on governance performance and local government funding, yet faces a fragmented challenge amid APC dominance in the state. These factors position the APC ticket as the clear frontrunner in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
