Guillaume Rousseau leads trader assessments for the Richmond riding in Quebec's October 5 provincial election due to his late June nomination as the Coalition avenir Québec candidate in a seat the party has held since 2018. His profile as a University of Sherbrooke law professor, former PQ candidate, and advisor on Bill 21 has drawn attention in this competitive Estrie district. Projections from aggregators like 338Canada and Qc125 show a close three-way contest among CAQ, PQ, and Liberals, with Rousseau's name recognition and party resources providing an edge over PQ nominee Bernard Sévigny, Liberal Hugo Fontaine, and smaller-party candidates. The nomination period closes September 17, leaving limited time for shifts before election day.
