OpenAI’s leadership has driven the 92.5% market-implied probability against a $1 trillion-plus IPO before 2027 by prioritizing that valuation target over an earlier listing. After a March 2026 funding round valued the company at $852 billion and a June confidential S-1 filing, CEO Sam Altman rejected lower-valuation options, while CFO Sarah Friar indicated a 2027 timeline unless revenue inflects sharply. Volatile tech markets following the SpaceX debut and heavy AI infrastructure spending have reinforced caution. A rapid acceleration in large language model adoption or favorable conditions could still shift sentiment, though current trader consensus views these as low-probability catalysts before year-end 2026.
