Several starting pitchers remain tightly bunched in the 2026 wins race, with Cristopher Sánchez (17-5, 2.79 ERA) and Sonny Gray (17-5, 2.76 ERA) among the leaders after strong September performances. Sánchez has maintained elite command and a lengthy scoreless streak earlier in the year for the Phillies, while Gray has delivered consistent quality starts for the Red Sox despite occasional hard contact. Multiple other arms sit close behind with comparable win totals, and the final three weeks of the schedule—featuring varied team strengths, potential bullpen usage, and rest days—create realistic paths for several contenders to finish atop the leaderboard. Trader consensus reflects this narrow gap in current form, innings totals, and remaining opportunities rather than a single dominant candidate.
