Yordan Alvarez holds a commanding lead in MLB intentional walks this season, currently at 32 compared to 16 or fewer for the nearest challengers, reflecting consistent opponent decisions to pitch around the Houston Astros designated hitter in high-leverage situations. His elite power production, including 40 home runs and a league-leading OPS near 1.027, has prompted frequent intentional walks with runners on base, a pattern that has held through recent weeks. With roughly two weeks remaining, challengers would need an unprecedented surge while Alvarez remains active, though roster or injury developments could still alter final totals before season's end.
