Lai Jui-lung, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, holds a substantial lead in trader pricing for the November 28, 2026 Kaohsiung mayoral election due to the city’s longstanding DPP lean, his January primary victory, and consistent polling advantages over Kuomintang candidate Ko Chih-en. Recent surveys show Lai ahead by double digits in telephone polls and narrower margins in some online samples, with undecided voters remaining a factor. Both campaigns have intensified grassroots efforts and policy outreach on youth employment, housing, and social services ahead of the vote, while party leaders on each side have mobilized support. Ko has focused on consolidating opposition and independent voters, but the structural and polling environment continues to favor the DPP contender in this race.
