Incumbent Republican Brenna Bird holds a substantial edge in the Iowa attorney general race due to the state's consistent Republican lean in statewide contests and her position as the first GOP holder of the office since 1979. Both candidates secured uncontested primaries in June 2026, setting up a November 3 general election matchup against Democrat Nate Willems. Recent polling shows a narrow contest, with Bird ahead by low single digits, while national party groups have directed equal $1.5 million contributions to each side. Bird has emphasized election integrity measures, including voter data sharing, amid ongoing legal developments. A biofuels producer threatened legal action against Willems over a September campaign advertisement, adding to the campaign environment just weeks before Election Day. Trader pricing reflects these structural and fundraising dynamics alongside Iowa's partisan baseline.
