Incumbent Republican Mike Johnson holds a commanding position in Louisiana’s 4th congressional district, a seat rated solid or safe Republican by multiple forecasters and one he carried with 85.8 percent in the 2024 jungle primary. The November 3, 2026 all-party primary features Johnson against two other Republicans and two Democrats, creating a fragmented field that historically favors the dominant incumbent. Recent fundraising reports show Johnson with roughly $21 million raised versus under $300,000 combined for his opponents, while redistricting after Louisiana v. Callais preserved the district’s partisan lean. Trader consensus for an outright first-round win above 50 percent reflects these structural advantages and the low probability that vote splitting among minor candidates will prevent a majority. A late surge by a unified opposition or an unforeseen development could still force a December 12 runoff, though such outcomes remain remote based on current indicators.
