**Argentina’s official exchange rate, currently near ARS 1,512 per USD in mid-September 2026, trades well below the inflation-indexed band ceiling of roughly ARS 1,889.** Trader positioning heavily favoring a close above 1,600 reflects consensus forecasts from banks and consultancies clustering around 1,600–1,670 by year-end, consistent with the crawling-band regime that adjusts monthly by lagged CPI. Strong Central Bank reserve accumulation—exceeding USD 14 billion year-to-date—supported by export inflows from elevated oil and crop prices, fiscal surpluses, and external financing has contained volatility and enabled gradual depreciation aligned with the 25–30% inflation path. Recent stabilization around the 1,500–1,512 zone after earlier defense of that level, alongside continued disinflation and re-monetization, underpins the market-implied odds while leaving room for upside surprises from commodity strength or policy signals.
