Amazon’s 2026 cash capex guidance stands at approximately $220 billion after a $20 billion upward revision in late July, driven primarily by elevated memory-chip costs and sustained AI infrastructure demand that exceeds available capacity. Management has stated that even this level will leave AWS short of fulfilling contracted demand through 2026 and into 2027, with notable 2028 backlog already visible and a $496 billion overall order backlog more than doubling year-over-year. Year-to-date spending reached roughly $173 billion through June, following 2025 outlays of $128–132 billion, while trailing free-cash-flow turned negative amid the acceleration. AWS revenue growth accelerated to 37% in Q2, supporting the view that spending is largely demand-backed rather than speculative. Traders will focus on any Q3 update for potential further revisions and on memory-price trends as key variables for final 2026 results.
