Recent polls show the Parti Québécois holding a narrow lead near 28-29 percent ahead of the October 5 election, while the Parti libéral du Québec and Coalition Avenir Québec trade places for second amid shifting voter preferences. The PLQ has gained in Montreal and suburban ridings, reaching 22-23 percent, as support for Premier Christine Fréchette’s CAQ fades after an earlier bump tied to trade issues. The Parti conservateur du Québec continues climbing toward 15-17 percent, adding uncertainty to the battle for runner-up status. Regional variations in francophone versus non-francophone support, combined with high undecided shares and the campaign’s volatility, keep the contest for second place tight between the Liberals and CAQ in trader assessments.
