Nathalie Roy of the Coalition Avenir Québec holds a narrow lead in the Montarville riding for the October 5 Quebec general election, with trader prices reflecting a competitive contest against Parti Québécois candidate Jean-François Cloutier. As incumbent and former National Assembly president, Roy benefits from name recognition in the South Shore suburban district encompassing Boucherville and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, where CAQ won comfortably in 2022. Cloutier, a longtime investigative journalist, brings local residency and a profile aligned with rising PQ momentum in provincial polling. Recent candidate nominations, now closed, confirmed a multi-party field that includes Liberal, Québec solidaire, and Conservative contenders, fragmenting the vote in a riding polls project as a toss-up. Provincial trends favoring the PQ in suburban areas, combined with the short campaign window and potential for late shifts in turnout or issue focus, sustain the tight implied probabilities ahead of election day.
