Luis Arraez holds the MLB batting average lead at approximately .318 through 138 games, driven by his elite contact skills, minimal strikeouts, and steady production across the Phillies lineup. Yordan Alvarez sits second near .312, bolstered by a high on-base percentage and power output but trailing in overall average despite strong recent months. Otto Lopez, Yandy Díaz, and Freddie Freeman remain in contention with averages in the .297–.305 range, supported by consistent plate appearances and favorable matchups. Late-season roster stability, limited injuries among qualifiers, and Arraez’s ongoing edge in hits per at-bat have reinforced trader consensus around the top two outcomes, with the race tightening only if Alvarez sustains elevated contact rates into the final weeks.
