Incumbent Republican Andy Harris maintains a commanding lead in the MD-01 House race due to the district’s consistent Republican tilt on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, his long tenure since 2011, and decisive primary victory with roughly 80 percent of the vote. Fundraising reports show Harris raising over $2 million compared to Democratic nominee Dan Schwartz’s approximately $600,000 through mid-2026, while nonpartisan ratings classify the seat as safe or solid Republican. A July poll indicated Harris ahead 52 percent to 39 percent. Trader consensus reflects these structural advantages and limited recent shifts. Potential challengers to this positioning include an unexpected national Democratic wave, late-breaking scandal, or significant turnout surge among suburban or Eastern Shore voters.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
