Patrick Brown, the incumbent mayor first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, holds a commanding lead in the October 26, 2026 Brampton mayoral race due to his established record on public safety initiatives, including police expansion and advocacy for bail reform, alongside progress on major infrastructure such as the second hospital and Hazel McCallion LRT extension. As the only candidate with broad name recognition and recent visibility on local economic issues like the Stellantis plant and tariff impacts, his position reflects strong trader consensus on incumbency advantages under Ontario’s strong mayor framework. Lesser-known challengers, including Sandeep Somal and Jagruti Bhatt, have limited campaign infrastructure and visibility. Late developments such as a major scandal, health event, or unusually effective opposition coordination could still alter outcomes before election day.
