Romania’s ongoing governmental crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, continues to shape expectations for the next prime ministerial appointment. President Nicușor Dan has already seen two nominees—Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea—fail to secure parliamentary majorities, bringing the constitutional clock closer to potential early elections. Fresh party consultations scheduled for early September 2026 focus on identifying a candidate capable of assembling a minority or coalition government, with PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR holding key negotiating leverage. Traders monitor these talks closely, as AUR’s strong polling position and the risk of further deadlock influence the timeline and identity of any new designate.
