This market will resolve to "Yes" if at least one seat on the United States Supreme Court becomes vacant between January 1 and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official announcements from the U.S. Government. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. Recent statements from the court's senior members have anchored trader expectations of continuity. Justice Samuel Alito, age 76, confirmed in an August 2026 Wall Street Journal interview that he intends to serve another full term through at least mid-2027, directly addressing retirement speculation. Justice Clarence Thomas, age 78, has likewise shown no departure signals through ongoing clerk hiring and public activity, while the remaining seven justices range from age 54 to 71 with no reported health concerns or retirement signals. The traditional June-July window for announcements passed without vacancies, and no legislative, electoral, or institutional developments have altered the composition since. These factors support the 85% implied probability that the nine-member court will remain intact through December 31, 2026.
