Early in the season, multiple defensive units demonstrate comparable organization and depth, shaped by pre-season fitness, tactical continuity, and fixture schedules that balance home strength against road challenges. Goalkeepers such as Mike Maignan, Vanja Milinković-Savić, and Jean Butez benefit from established records in high-pressing or compact systems, yet the wisdom of crowds prices in uncertainty around injuries, rotation, and opponent attacking quality. No single standout has emerged to shift the balance, leaving the outcome dependent on consistent backline performances across the campaign.
