BJP's commanding position in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation election market stems primarily from its majority victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly polls, which produced leads across most existing KMC wards and triggered widespread TMC defections along with the dissolution of the prior civic board. Delimitation expanding wards to 209, combined with BJP's solo contest strategy and planned intensive outreach campaigns ahead of the December vote, has reinforced trader consensus on its frontrunner status. AITC and smaller parties trail significantly amid organizational setbacks. Potential shifts could arise from unexpected turnout patterns in minority-dominated areas, effective opposition mobilization, or late campaign developments altering the current momentum reflected in market pricing.
