Ed Ruscha’s “Cities Across the Globe” heads to Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale on October 7, 2026, with trader focus centered on its final hammer price amid the artist’s resilient secondary market. Recent 2025–2026 results for works on paper, including pieces realizing $576,000–$1.8 million, show consistent outperformance of estimates and strong sell-through rates, supporting momentum for mid-six-figure to low-seven-figure outcomes. The contemporary art auction calendar, Sotheby’s positioning of the lot, and broader demand for Ruscha’s text-and-image works remain the key swing factors before the sale.
