Lukáš Hájek leads the market at 41% as the SLK candidate to succeed incumbent Jaroslav Zámečník, who announced in late 2025 that he would not seek another term after more than seven years in office. The October 9-10, 2026 municipal elections will determine the new council, which then selects the mayor, creating a fragmented contest involving SLK, the Liberecká 9 coalition led by Zdeněk Chmelík, Jan Hruška’s Piráti-LOL alliance, Jiří Veselka’s ODS-backed ticket, Tibor Batthyány’s Libe! group, and others. With no dominant polling data and multiple viable paths to a council majority through coalitions or negotiations, traders assign probabilities that remain closely bunched below 50%. Recent candidate announcements and party positioning in spring and summer 2026 have sustained this balance, while any late shifts in local alliances or turnout patterns could alter the implied probabilities ahead of election night.
