This market will resolve according to the winner of the 2026 Michigan gubernatorial election. A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party. The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.Jocelyn Benson holds a commanding lead in the 2026 Michigan gubernatorial race as the Democratic nominee, backed by consistent polling margins of 4 to 8 points in recent surveys and strong primary performance where she secured over 83 percent of the vote. As secretary of state, she benefits from high name recognition, robust fundraising exceeding $1.8 million shortly after the August primaries, and alignment with the state's recent Democratic gubernatorial trends following term-limited incumbent Gretchen Whitmer. John James, the Republican nominee and U.S. representative who won his primary with roughly 50 percent, trails amid a competitive general election environment. Trader consensus reflects these fundamentals, though shifts in voter turnout among key demographics, national political conditions, or late-campaign developments before the November 3 election could narrow the gap.
