Recent forecast models from agencies like MetService and international ensembles indicate a peak temperature near 14–15°C for Wellington on September 11, driven by a post-frontal northwest flow following a southerly change on the 10th that brought rain and cooler air. Spring transitional patterns in the region, modulated by Cook Strait winds and variable cloud cover, typically produce daytime maxima around seasonal averages of 14–16°C, with limited diurnal warming under partly cloudy skies. Short-range model consensus supports the market’s heavy weighting toward 15°C, though minor shifts in wind direction or timing of clearing could adjust the daily high by 1°C either way before official observations finalize the outcome.
