A.J. Brown enters the 2026 season as the New England Patriots’ clear top wide receiver after a June trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, reuniting him with head coach Mike Vrabel and pairing him with quarterback Drake Maye in an offense projected to feature higher passing volume. Brown posted 78 receptions across 15 games in 2025 and has routinely drawn 100-plus targets in prior seasons, positioning him for a substantial share of Maye’s attempts as the primary option opposite complementary receivers. Recent form and historical target leadership support elevated volume expectations, though his Week 1 ankle injury—sustained against the Seahawks, limiting him to three catches before exiting—introduces uncertainty around availability and could affect workload in the early weeks. Schedule strength, offensive line stability, and any lingering effects from prior knee concerns remain additional variables for his season-long reception total.
