Recent inflation data showing a year-over-year rate near 6.3% in August, driven by fuel price surges from refinery disruptions and elevated underlying price growth, has reinforced the Bank of Russia's cautious stance after its September pause at 14%. Expansionary fiscal policy and lingering inflation expectations add pro-inflationary risks, while moderating economic growth and credit activity support arguments for further modest easing. With the next decisions hinging on incoming inflation readings, fiscal updates expected by late September, and labor market tightness, traders see limited separation between a 25 basis point cut and no change by December as the most probable paths amid these balanced pressures.
