Persistent heat across North Texas, with above-average temperatures and clear skies under a strong high-pressure ridge, drove trader consensus toward a 98-99°F high for Dallas on September 15. Official National Weather Service observations at DFW Airport recorded a maximum of 101°F that afternoon, consistent with an ongoing September heat wave that produced multiple triple-digit days and set monthly records for 100°F occurrences. Model guidance and climatological baselines indicated limited cooling potential given southeasterly flow and minimal moisture. A realistic challenge to the leading bin would require a late-day measurement revision from the primary station or an unforecasted mesoscale feature that capped the peak below 100°F.
